When first hearing your loved one has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, it changes you
completely. Whether you decide to ignore it, deny it, or accept it, you will go through a ray
of emotions. Although there is no "best" way to react or necessarily a "wrong" way to
react, there is something that can be learned from reading others reactions. Although initial
instincts may make you want to run, trying to embrace your loved one's illness and trying
to find out everything you can about the illness will, in the long run, help you and your
loved one more than you could ever know.
